Scientific Seminar Dedicated to the 120th Anniversary of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev Held at BEU

A scientific seminar dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU), organized by the Student Scientific Society (SSS).

The seminar was attended by the Board of BEU SSS, the university's faculty members, as well as the leaders and members of SSS from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Sumgait State University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, and Azerbaijan Technical University.

At the beginning of the event, a video presentation was shown reflecting Yusif Mammadaliyev's life and multifaceted scientific activities.

In his speech, Mayis Azizov, Head of BEU's Science and Innovation Department, stated that the legacy and memory of the prominent scientist are always remembered with respect. He emphasized that scientists who have left an indelible mark on science are never forgotten, and their ideas serve the development of new generations. He noted that today, for young people studying chemistry at universities, Yusif Mammadaliyev's scientific activity constitutes a roadmap.

Namig Shikhalieyev, Head of BEU's Chemical Engineering Department, spoke about the pride he felt for having studied with a scholarship named after Yusif Mammadaliyev during his student years and for working as a researcher at the department established by the academician. Speaking about the innovations brought to chemistry by the academician and his achievements, N. Shikhalieyev touched upon the tasks facing chemistry today. He also highlighted projects in the field of chemistry at BEU, particularly emphasizing the dual degree program implemented jointly with Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

Subsequently, Ravan Rahimov, Head of the Food and Biotechnology Department, delivered a speech about the high value given by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to Yusif Mammadaliyev's scientific legacy. Explaining the significance of the scientist's discoveries, R. Rahimov stated that the development of high-octane fuels with very low freezing temperatures that enable high-altitude flight of aircraft is directly associated with Yusif Mammadaliyev's name. It was noted that his discoveries played a special role in the success of military aviation during World War II.

During the event, it was noted that holding such seminars is of great importance in terms of increasing young people's interest in science and introducing the legacy of great scientists to new generations.

At the end of the seminar, a campus tour was organized for students from four higher education institutions. The students also became acquainted with BEU's Cybersecurity, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering laboratories.
