Announcement and Presentation Regarding Student Admission for the 2025/2026 Academic Year: Dual Degree Program Between Baku Engineering University (BMU) and Inha University (Republic of Korea)
The Dual Degree Program (DDP) at the undergraduate level in engineering specialties between Baku Engineering University (BMU) and Inha University of the Republic of Korea has been implemented since the 2020/2021 academic year.
Previous admissions (2020–2023) were carried out within the framework of the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019–2023," approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 711 dated November 16, 2018.
Today, the BMU-INHA DDP acts as an exemplary model of international cooperation and high-level personnel training in the field of engineering in the country and continues its successful activities within the framework of the extended State Program to be continued until 2030.
Within the framework of the Dual Degree Program, the educational process is organized based on the "3+1" model. According to this model, students continue their education for three years at Baku Engineering University and for one year at Inha University in the Republic of Korea. Graduates who successfully complete the education period are awarded bachelor's degrees from both higher education institutions—BMU and Inha University.
Since the 2020/2021 academic year, when the program began implementation, four admissions have already been carried out for the 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 academic years. During this period, a total of 143 students in the specialties of "Information Technologies," "Civil Engineering," "Electrical Engineering," and "Electronics Engineering" successfully completed the program requirements and graduated with a dual degree.
Admission for the 2025/2026 academic year continues based on the extension of the program's implementation period until 2030, pursuant to the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 22, 2025, "On Additional Measures Regarding Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan."
The specialties to be admitted to the BMU-INHA DDP for the 2025/2026 academic year have been updated in accordance with the requirements of the modern labor market. Admission for this academic year will be conducted in the following specialties.
SPECIALTIES: Admission of 100 students in total is envisaged, with 25 students for each specialty. The teaching of the program will again be carried out according to the 3+1 model, and students who successfully complete their education will be presented with bachelor's degrees by both BMU and Inha University.
- Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence Engineering (AI) - 25 students (Passing score 400/700)
- Data Analytics / Data Science - 25 students (Passing score 400/700)
- Information Technologies - 25 students (Passing score 400/700)
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering - 25 students (Passing score 400/700)
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Admission for the DDP for the 2025/2026 academic year has started, and online registration will be carried out between August 1–9, 2025.
The admission process for the BMU-INHA DDP for the 2025/2026 academic year will be conducted in the following stages. Candidates must first participate in the undergraduate level admission exam to be held by the State Examination Center (SEC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and must score the passing grade defined for the program. Applicants belonging to Specialty Group 1 who successfully pass this stage will acquire the right to apply to the BMU-INHA DDP. Subsequently, candidates must participate in an internal exam to be jointly organized by BMU and Inha University. This exam will be held in written form and will consist of 3 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and English Language.
For the 2025/2026 Academic Year:
- Online Document Acceptance: August 1–9, 2025, until 23:55
- Internal Exam: August 11, 2025
- Announcement of Exam Results: August 15, 2025
Candidates must submit the required documents via the "online application form" which will be active on the noted dates. The list of admitted students is sent to the Ministry of Science and Education, and those individuals are officially registered at the State Examination Center. Candidates admitted to the BMU-INHA DDP are exempt from participating in the specialty selection stage of the SEC. Candidates who are not admitted will have sufficient time to participate in the SEC specialty coding.
ORGANIZATION OF EDUCATION: The program is established based on the 3+1 model. Thus, according to the dual degree program, students will study for 3 academic years at BMU in the traditional manner, and for 1 academic year at Inha University in the Republic of Korea in the English language.
Additionally, to form relevant language skills during the 3-year education period at BMU, English language lessons are taught to students in accordance with program conditions, and they participate in exams to obtain an IELTS/TOEFL certificate at the end of the 2nd academic year respectively. Students who successfully pass the exams obtain the opportunity to continue their education at Inha University in the Republic of Korea and, accordingly, obtain two diplomas at the end of 4 years.
The current program is fully funded by state funds for 4 years. Participation of students in a 3-week summer school in the Republic of Korea at the end of the 1st year is also envisaged within the program. Furthermore, students completing the bachelor's level will have the opportunity to continue their master's and doctoral studies in the Republic of Korea with a scholarship.
FINANCIAL EXPENSES OF STUDENTS: The current program is fully provided for by state funds for 4 years. Thus, the following expenses for students are covered by the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the "State Program":
- Full tuition fees for 4 years;
- Full education expenses for 1 year in the Republic of Korea (4th year);
- Participation expenses for the 3-week summer school in the Republic of Korea;
- Expenses for teaching materials and access to electronic information resources;
- Registration costs.
PROGRAM GOAL: The main goal of the program is to train a new generation of specialists in the field of engineering in Azerbaijan who meet the requirements of the 21st century, utilizing the most advanced scientific achievements and innovative teaching-learning technologies. At the same time, it aims to modernize the content and quality indicators of the Azerbaijani higher education system in this field through international dual degree programs.
