Youth Day Celebrated at BEU

An event was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) in connection with Youth Day on February 2.

First, the blessed memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence, the National Anthem was played, and a video about youth policy in our country was shown.

Speaking at the event, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized that consistent steps are being taken at the state level for the comprehensive development of the young generation in Azerbaijan, their upbringing in the spirit of patriotism, and their active participation in the life of the country. The rector stated that this significant day, established by the decree signed by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in 1997, is a high appreciation of the role of youth in society, and emphasized that youth policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that the Victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War proved to the whole world that correct and systematic work is being carried out with youth in the country, and that a knowledgeable young generation raised in the national spirit during the independence period has grown up.

The rector stated that the tradition of education abroad, founded by the great personality Heydar Aliyev, is being implemented in accordance with new challenges under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and noted that consistent work is being carried out for talented youth to receive higher education, strengthen their social protection, and train young scientific personnel. In this regard, Yagub Piriyev listed various state programs for youth education in foreign countries, the Presidential Award, the establishment of a number of scholarships, as well as projects aimed at increasing the interest of talented youth in science and modern technologies, and drew attention to the special role of all these in the formation of youth, solving their problems, and developing their abilities. At the same time, he called on BEU students to take advantage of these broad opportunities.

The rector stated that continuous work is being carried out at BEU for youth to acquire high moral qualities, form as individuals, and at the same time, grow as personnel capable of responding to global competition, and recalled the dual diploma programs implemented by the higher education institution with Chinese and South Korean universities, evaluating education in these programs as an important opportunity for young people. At the end of his speech, Yagub Piriyev, calling sound-minded, exemplary, educated youth our country's valuable spiritual treasure, conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of Youth Day.

Later, Ali Huseynov, Chairman of the BEU Student Trade Union Committee, Maryam Aliyeva, Chairman of the Student Youth Organization, Aysu Jabrayilova, Chairman of the Student Scientific Society, and Ilgar Sariyev, Chairman of the YENI Club, made speeches. It was stated that this policy inspires youth not only to learn, but also to be active in public life, proactive, and to be a positive example in society. It was noted that the Victory achieved in the Patriotic War was won through the courage and love of country of youth, and their attainment of the rank of martyrdom created an example of sacrifice for future generations. The speeches also touched upon the achievements of recent years, students' scientific activities, and successes in local and international competitions.
