Meeting Held at BEU with Students Set to Study in China within Dual-Degree Program

A meeting was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with 37 students who will continue the 3rd and 4th years of their bachelor's studies in the People's Republic of China starting from September, within the framework of the dual-degree program carried out jointly with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), along with their parents.

Speaking at the event, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev congratulated the students, noting that an important academic stage lies ahead for them. The rector emphasized that, within the framework of the BEU-BUCT dual-degree program, students' studies over the next two years in China, one of the world's most developed countries, creates an important opportunity for them to improve their knowledge and skills in the international academic environment and broaden their scientific and professional outlook.

Yagub Piriyev noted that the successfully developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and China opens new opportunities in the field of higher education, and that in this regard, the effective ties formed between BEU and BUCT make a significant contribution to the development of academic cooperation, student and faculty exchange, and joint research activities. The rector said that the dual-degree programs implemented at BEU serve to help students gain knowledge, skills, and competencies in line with the demands of the modern labor market. He also emphasized the importance of students worthily representing Azerbaijan and BEU in the international academic environment, and of applying the knowledge and experience they gain in a way that will contribute to their future professional careers and to the country's development.

Yagub Piriyev advised the students to approach their academic activities in China seriously and responsibly, to make the most of research and personal development opportunities, and to achieve their academic goals in a consistent and systematic manner.

Other speeches noted that the implementation of the dual-degree program between BEU and BUCT began in 2025. Covering 6 specialties — "Chemical Engineering," "Computer Engineering," "Mechanical Engineering," "Chemistry," "Biotechnology," and "Business Administration" — the program is the first bachelor's-level dual-degree program carried out between higher education institutions of Azerbaijan and China. Within the program, carried out on the basis of a 2+2 model, students who successfully complete their first two years at BEU and go through the established relevant procedures continue the 3rd and 4th years of their studies at BUCT. Students who successfully fulfill the program's requirements gain the opportunity to obtain bachelor's diplomas from both universities.

During the speeches, students were given advice on adapting to the new academic environment in China, complying with the requirements of the educational process, and effectively taking advantage of the development opportunities created in the international environment.

At the meeting, BEU students currently continuing their studies at BUCT also spoke, sharing their impressions of their educational experience, the academic environment, and student life in China. They provided information about adapting to the new educational environment, the opportunities offered by the university, and the experience they have gained.

At the end, a broad exchange of views was held with the students and their parents, their questions of interest were answered, and matters related to the upcoming stage of study were discussed.
