BEU Staff Member Elected to Scientific Committee of Turkic World Mathematical Society

Rakib Afandiyev, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences at Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Doctor of Mathematical Sciences, has been elected as a member of the Scientific Committee (Bilim Kurulu) of the Turkic World Mathematical Society (TWMS).

One of the most prestigious scientific organizations operating in the field of mathematics, the Society's primary objectives are to ensure the integration of scholars of Turkic origin on a global scale, to support the establishment and strengthening of their ties with leading scientific centers, to promote the application of new scientific results in the economic and scientific development of Turkic states, and to contribute to the recognition of Turkic world scholars in the international scientific community. The Scientific Committee plays a significant role in shaping the organization's scientific activities, determining directions for international cooperation, and supporting scientific initiatives.

The Turkic World Mathematical Society was founded in 1999 and brings together mathematicians from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, China, the United States, Mongolia, and European countries. The Society's VIII International Congress is scheduled to be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on September 7–9, 2026.

It should be noted that Rakib Afandiyev's scientific work has recently been marked by another significant achievement. The international scientific journal "Journal of Contemporary and Applied Mathematics," of which he serves as Editor-in-Chief, has risen from Q4 to Q2 in the quartile rankings of the Scopus and SCImago indices. This achievement demonstrates a significant increase in the journal's international scientific standing, citation metrics, and academic impact, and is also a clear indication of the importance placed on the development of scientific research and international publishing activities at BEU.
