BEU Represented at International Conference on Artificial Intelligence

The Dean of the Faculty of Information and Computer Technologies at Baku Engineering University (BEU), Vagif Gasimov, and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Asif Guliyev, participated in the 3rd International Scientific Conference titled "AI: From Theory to Practice," held at Nakhchivan State University (NSU).

 

The event was organized in the framework of joint collaboration with NSU's National AI Center, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), BEU, Türkiye's Istanbul University, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Karadeniz Technical University, Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University, Gümüşhane University, Russia's Southern University, and Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University.

 

The event commenced with a visit to an exhibition of innovative and technological projects by students of NSU's Faculty of Architecture and Engineering.

 

At the conference, NSU Rector Elbrus Isayev, ANAS President Isa Habibbayli, and National AI Center education expert Shahriyar Mammadli delivered opening remarks. The speeches emphasized the role of higher education institutions in raising awareness in the field of artificial intelligence, and highlighted the importance of strengthening the foundational knowledge of young people, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary integration in line with the "Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2028." It was also noted that the application of artificial intelligence in education makes a significant contribution to the development of digital skills, the cultivation of analytical thinking, and the preparation of personnel aligned with the demands of the labor market.

 

Subsequently, presentations were delivered by Chairman of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS Ismayil Hajiyev, BEU Professor Vagif Gasimov, Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University Professor Mehmet Üzel, Southern University of Russia Rector Imran Akbarov, ITU Professor Derya Özer Güleç, and others. The speakers described the conference as an important platform for the exchange of scholarly ideas in the field of AI and underscored its contribution to the scientific and educational community. They also commended the support extended to innovative initiatives at the university.

 

At the end of the event, plaques and certificates of appreciation were presented to participants by the rector.

 

The conference continued its proceedings with panel sessions.
