Chess Tournament Held in South Korea with Participation of BEU-INHA DDP Students

A chess tournament dedicated to the 103rd birth anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at INHA University in South Korea.

 

The tournament was jointly organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Korea and final-year students enrolled in the dual degree program (BEU-INHA DDP) implemented between Baku Engineering University and INHA University.

 

The competition was attended by more than 30 young chess enthusiasts, including Azerbaijani students as well as international students from various countries.

 

The event opened with a video dedicated to the life and legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

 

In his opening remarks, embassy representative Vugar Gafarov spoke about the distinguished statesman Heydar Aliyev's rich political legacy and his significant contributions to the development of Azerbaijani statehood. He emphasized that the National Leader's attention and care for young people remains one of the key priorities of state policy to this day.

 

Participants were then briefed on the rules of the competition and the tournament commenced.

 

Among male participants, Nariman Agayev (Information Technologies) claimed 1st place, while Nasib Ahmadov (Electrical Engineering) finished 3rd. Among female participants, Gul Avdiyeva (Electrical Engineering) took 1st place, Zaride Dashdemirli (Electronics Engineering) 2nd place, and Fatima Salimzade (Information Technologies) 3rd place.

 

The winners were awarded certificates and prizes.

 

As part of the event, Murtuzali Allahverdiyev, a student in the DDP's Electronics Engineering program, and Fatima Salimzade, a student in the Information Technologies program, performed Azerbaijani folk songs. Gunay Nuruyeva, a student in the Electronics Engineering program, presented a national dance performance. A display of various dishes from Azerbaijani national cuisine was also featured at the event.
